Bien, pues éste se lo regalé a mi doctora ayer mismo, y puedo decir que la gustó, aunque más contenta estoy yo de haber podido agradecerle sus servicios en este tiempo.

Éste segundo lo hice hace unos meses, para Ana, otra amiga. La verdad es que es un regalo bonito, y tiene miles de posibilidades...

I made the first one for my doctor, and she ended happy, but I ended up even happier. The second one was made for a friend of mine a few months ago. They are a nice present, and they have million possibilities...

Detallitos en fieltro

He estado muy ocupada últimente, y tenía poco tiempo para hacer manualidades. Sin embargo necesitaba ya ponerme a hacer alguna cosita que me despejara, y el fieltro me pareció ideal. Con él hice un broche para una amiga:

Seguí con un guardatijeras y un guardabobinas ( también para tijeras pequeñitas). Éste fue para mi futura suegra:

Y ya con la carrerilla, terminé estos otros tres guardatijeras. Dos de ellos cuando los regalé, se los tuve que dar a una sola persona porque la otra, su compañera, debía de estar de vacaciones. ¿Podéis creeros que directamente guardó los dos en el cajón, sin ni tan siquiera abrirlos?. No me lo podía creer... Por eso siempre digo que los regalos hay que hacérselos a quien verdaderamente los valore. Lo que pensé mucho más tarde es que tendré que volver a acercarme allí para explicarlas para qué sirven, porque quien no lo ha visto antes, no lo ve a primera vista...

I have been very busy lately, and really needed to do some crafts. I thought at that time that I would give felt a try. And so I made a brooch for a friend, a scissor and floss (or small scissors) keeper, and three more scissors keepers. From these last three, when I gave two of them away, I gave them to one lady because the other one was away. To my surprise, she took them both and put them into a drawer, without even opening it!. I left with my mouth opened, and so dissappointed... I always say that you can only give handmade presents to people who really know the work it means, and apparently I made a mistake this time...

Detalles de Navidad

Bueno, pues éstos deberían ser redwork, o realmente en cualquier tipo de color, porque ya véis que llevan varios colores. Pero hice uno previo en punto de tallo y no me gustó mucho, así que decidí probar haciendo backstitch, y como alternativa, ha quedado bien, así que aquí están las creaciones. La del árbol fue para mi profesora de alemán, y de los dos camellos, para mi novio y mi abuela respectivamente. El camello es uno de mis animales preferidos, y después de muchos años haciendo otro tipo de motivos, pensé que este también les gustaría a ellos.

Well, these should be redwork, or any-other-colour-work, but I tried once, and didn't like the result, so these ended up being backstitch... just a variation. The Christmas tree was a present for my German teacher, and the camels for my boyfriend and my grandma. This is one of my favourite animals, and after years embroidering other things, thought they would like it as well.

Intercambio amiga invisible

Pues sí, ayer mismo fue el intercambio de amiga invisible como suele ocurrir en esta fechas, y por segundo año consecutivo nos reunimos las amigas de Madrid. Pasamos una buena tarde, llenándonos los ojos de cosas bonitas, y luego de compras por el barrio de Paloma. A continuación os enseñaré el regalo que yo recibí y el que yo entregué, a la espera de que las fotógrafas me pasen las fotos con el resto de los regalos.

As it usually happens at this time of year, the friends of Madrid met to give ourselves the corresponding presents. It was a nice afternoon and evening seeing the precious gifts and doing some shopping. I'll show you what I received and what I made, waiting for the "fotographers" to give me the rest of the photos.

Ésto fue lo que yo recibí de Concha: 4 servilletas y un rollo de papel de rosas moradas para usar en découpage, un bordadito navideño, un amirigumi muñeco de nieve hecho por ella misma también, y un espejito de estilo antiguo. ¿A que son bonitos mis regalos?.

So this is what I got: 4 serviettes and a paper roll with purple roses for découpage, a winter embroidery, an amirigumi snowman, and an old style mirror. Aren't they nice?.

Y ésto fue lo que yo le regalé a Carmen: una bandeja de découpage, una teja decorada, un guardatijeras en azul, que tanto le gusta, una toallita para bordar en turquesa, que le encanta, unas cintas (roja y dorada), y un cuadro estilo envejecido de Debbie Mumm. Y parece que quedó contenta...

And this is what Carmen received from me: a little découpage tray, a decorated tile, a scissors keeper, a little turquoise towel for her to embroider, a red and a golden ribbon, and a Debbie Mumm picture decorated in old style. She seems to have liked it...

Llega de nuevo Expoocio a Madrid

Hacía tiempo que no se celebraba. Y esta mañana he recibido un par de invitaciones para asistir. En la carta que acompañaba, me informan de que se pueden conseguir entradas gratuítas en http://www.expo-ocio.es/invitaciones.html... debe de ser que con esto de la crisis, la cosa está fatal.
Bueno, pues sea lo que fuere, habrá que hacerle alguna visita, ¿no creéis?.

Tendencias 2008

Bueno, pues el domingo, día 19 de Octubre, pasamos el día en una exposición organizada por la tienda de manualidades Chopo, gracias a la cual pudimos conocer las novedades en el campo de las manualidades: nuevos productos y nuevas técnicas. Y la verdad, salimos bastante contentas.

Last sunday 19th, we had the chance to go to an Expo where to learn the new products and techniques about handcrafts. And we did enjoy it!.

En primer lugar, podías encontrar esta muestra de metales trabajados con algo novedoso: una placa de plástico que, colocada debajo del metal, y con sólo pasarle un pequeño rodillo por encima, dejaba el dibujo normalmente marcado. En definitiva, hacer las cosas más fáciles y con un resultado de profesional. To begin with, we met these samples of decorated metal, with an innovative technique: a plastic plaque with different patterns, above which you just have to roll a roller, and it is done. Algo que nos gustó mucho fue un nuevo producto, llamado "Twin Colors", de Eder Faber, y que, como su propio nombre indica, es una fusión de dos colores. Piensas que ves uno, pero son dos. Y tienen un acabado metalizado. Allí tenías la oportunidad de pintar una pequeña pieza de marmolina que ellos te ofrecían. Pero había tanta gente, que preferí atender a las explicaciones e informaciones que se nos ofreció del producto. Algunos ejemplos de estas pinturas, fueron estos.

A new product, that called our attention was the one called "Twin Colors", from Eder Faber, and that mixes 2 different colors with a metalic finish. They gave you the chance to paint a small piece of plaster to get to know the product. But it was so crowdy, that we rather listened to the instructions of use. Some example of these paintings were these:

Otra novedad era una laca para bombillas de la marca La Pajarita, que al ser aplicada gota a gota sobre una base de simple cola, ofrecía un resultado increíble: parecía piel de cocodrilo, jiji...

Secreto: hay que poner cinta de carrocero en el borde, para que no se derrame el trabajo.
Mirad la de trabajos que se puede hacer con todo ello (fijáos en la africana del fondo).

Other innovation was the result of painting on top of just glue. It looks like crocodile skin, doesn't it?. Do not forget using tape at the edge of the work to avoid the spill. Have a look at the result (do not miss the African woman behind).

Un tutorial que nos gustó fue el de una técnica en la que se aplicaba la pintura muy ligera y luego se lijaba... en cuanto tenga un ratito, os pongo el tutorial con fotos... aunque hecho a mi estilo, jaja!. Aquí un ejemplo de lo que se puede conseguir.

A tutorial we really liked was the one with a technique where you lightly applied painting, and then you had to sand down it. When I can, I'll make a tutorial with fotos. So far, have a look at what you can get.

Y bueno, esto fue más o menos lo que más nos interesó. Había también Fimo, una masa de modelar que al ponerse dura no pesa nada, de Eder Faber, y pintura sobre tela. Y en vacaciones... - And in this summer holidays...

Justo antes de irme de vacaciones, (y sin saber que de cuatro partes que tiene el examen de alemán había aprobado tres), llevé este regalo a mi profesora. La cosa es que ella es muy tímida, y no lo quiso abrir delante de nadie. El próximo día le preguntaré si le gustó...


Just before going on holidays (and not knowing yet that I had passed three parts of four in my German exam), I gave this to my teacher. She is too shy to open it in front of everybody, so I'll ask her tomorrow if she liked it...

Pues no sé si fue por eso, o por lo que estudié... la cuestión es que en septiembre ¡APROBÉ!, y ya estoy en el último curso... ya me da igual tardar un año o dos en terminarlo. La cuestión es disfrutar con ello, ¿no creéis?.

What I'll never know is if I passed in September for this or for studying... I am now in my last year, and even if it takes me 2 more years to finish, I'll take it easy and will enjoy learning.

Una vez regresada de Berlín, pasé unos días decorando una caja de madera, con estuco y estarcido. Voló hasta Tenerife, y seguro que allí está la mar de agusto, junto con la teja a la que acompañó.


Once back from Berlin, I decorated this wooden box with estucco and stencil. It flew all the way to Tenerife, as a partner of a decorated tile.

A esto le siguió un paisaje de la sabana africana...

Y como colofón, un panel para colgar fotos y todo lo que se quiera, que saqué de algún tutorial del que ahora desgraciadamente no tengo la dirección...

¡Cuánto tiempo sin escribir! - Long time no hear!

Y por ello os pido disculpas...

Lo cierto es que me desanimé un poco porque no sé muy bien cómo usar las herramientas del blog. Y, aunque afortunadamente muchas amigas me tendieron su mano, en aquel momento, ya mayo, empecé a estudiar para mi examen de alemán, que tuve a principios de junio. A eso siguieron las largas vacaciones: mi viaje a Berlín, playa de Miramar (Valencia), temporada en Azuqueca de Henares, vuelta a Miramar, Torrevieja... ¡ni yo me creía las vacaciones que he disfrutado este año!.
Y en fín, que estoy de vuelta, para seguir aprendiendo de todas vosotras, y para mostraros lo que vaya saliendo de mis manos, pero también de mi cabeza.
Poco a poco os mostraré alguna cosita que hice este verano.

Yes, and I apologize for that. My main dissappointment was not being able to understand how to use a blog, and the luck of time. But after quite long holidays this year, I am back.
And happily back, to keep learning from you all, and to let you see what's going on in my hands, and in my head.

Algunos trabajos de manualidades...

Recién terminados. He quedado contenta con el resultado. Y la verdad es que le he cogido el gusanillo: disfruto con ello. Considero que regalar algo artesanal añade una magia al regalo en sí.

As an example, I show you here this embrodery that I framed myself, giving it a rustic touch that suits quite well, doesn't it?.

Naranja y amarillo fueron los colores elegidos para este espejo. Muy acordes con este momento del año...

Orange and yellow were chosen for this mirror. Quite likely the colours for this spring...


Y una caja para mi abuela, en su 91 cumpleaños (regalitos aparte). En malva, y con pensamientos: lo que a ella más la gusta.

Comenzando...

Recién llegada al mundo del blog, que no al de internet, y atraída por las cosas tan bonitas que veo y leo, he decidido unirme a la blogosfera.
He pensado cómo enfocarlo, ya que igual me gustan el punto de cruz como las manualidades, los idiomas o los viajes, la lectura y las películas en versión original... un ajilimójilis que nos hace ser lo que cada un@ de nosotros somos. Por ello, encontraréis un poquito de todo.
Agradezco mucho a Estrella el que me haya animado. Y, avance más o menos, más rápido o más lento, aquí me tendréis, intentando mostraros más de mí y de mi mundo.
